If you are auto-enrolled, the RSP Administrators will write to you to confirm that you are a member of the RSP. Their letter will also explain the steps to take if you don't want to stay in. This is known as opting-out.

If you choose to opt-out within your first month of RSP membership, we will refund any payments you have made. This refund will be made to you via Payroll. If you do choose to opt-out within this period, you will be treated as never having been a member of the RSP.

It is important to think carefully before you opt-out, as it means you would lose out on the future payments IMI will make into your RSP pension account for you, as well as tax benefits from the Government.

After the initial one month opt-out period has ended if you leave the RSP, or stop making contributions, your own and IMI's contributions will stop but we cannot refund contributions you have already made.

Every three years we must reassess our employees who have opted-out and if they are eligible we must automatically re-enrol them into the RSP. If you are automatically re-enrolled at this time, you will still have the right to opt-out again.
